| Embrace Who You Are |

 | Embrace Who You Are |

Hello my lovely followers and visitors to my blog 😊

Feel free to laugh at these photos because I am expressing my true
self to the world, well the world and internet as a weird one at
times who in this photo had just laughed at themself for being weird
doing silly poses as I felt awkward dong my photon shoot for my bog post so
started messing around-which is truly what I am like
Recently it has occurred to me watching different You tube videos, reading different blogs and magazines that many people, mainly women do not express their natural hair and let it run wild. And whilst I myself have let my hair do its own thing, (mainly as I'm too lazy in the mornings ) alongside a bit of help from myself in terms of straightening my fringe so that it doesn't cover my eyes and stick up like it does in the morning -think of a lion main and then you'll get the image of my hair in its 'true' form in the morning-, I have noticed that as time goes by and the less I touch it, the more it's natural curl is more defined and the easier it is to get ready in the mornings due to only touching the top part of my hair when I get ready. And this makes me feel good about myself; expressing my self and loving myself for who I am.

I hear and talk to many people who say they "hate" their natural hair because it's too wild or too curly or too frizzy to deal with. And whatever the reason I always think to myself; why don't we all accept ourselves, become happier within and go about life not caring what others think about us because we're happy about who we are as individuals.

And this example leads me onto my intentions for this blog post today, the issue of so many of us not embracing who we are and accepting ourselves for who we truly are. I can think of so many times in my life when I was a young teenager and still getting to know who I am that I really didn't like myself. I mean it, I would criticise myself for everything!  And unfortunately society seems to encourage this criticism in the media, in our lives and it even appears ingrained into our human nature. For instance, adverts would portray models with slender waists and thigh gaps and 'perfect' skin and I would just compare myself as the 16 year old Caris who didn't like who she was. And unfortunately I still see this today and hear others compare themselves to these 'ideals' in society.

Recently I have been thinking about things, about myself and my goals for life, and one thing that I want to express to everyone in the hope I can help anyone who struggles to love who they are, whatever your reason I am not judging, I want to highlight something that rings loud and clear in my mind: you must be happy in life and happy within yourself no matter what anyone else thinks; because you are important and only you can truly make yourself feel this way. In the past, the way others have treated me has lead me to believe I should't be myself or like myself for who I am. This has occurred through bullying I have experienced from those I thought I could trust, but instead who turned against me because I was different to them and because I thought differently to them. I am glad to say now I have found friends who I feel I fit in with, be it the topics I can discuss to our personalities and general heck-do-it attitude that has helped us push ourselves to achieve better. But I only felt I fit in when I became happy with who I am and adopted my current motto of "be yourself no matter what anyone thinks because you are amazing". Today I feel happy to be me, and happy to go through life trying not to worry about things unless it really is necessary; even when I have days where my emotions make me feel angry and unhappy with who I am. Because expressing yourself takes time that only you can develop into life mottos through your experiences.

P.S. enjoy this very embarrassing photo of me which shouts to the world my
personality: an absolute weird one at times who in this photo felt awkward doing
a photo shoot, yes I am admitting this, and so I decided to make it humorous haha
😌😉
And I know that I may not truly understand the experiences others may face towards understanding themselves, we are all different individuals experiencing life in so many ways we could not compare ourselves to one another; but I just wanted to say in this post today, that I want everyone to express themselves however they please, be it through your amazing fashion sense, your makeup slaying skills or your personality lighting up conversations when you enter the room. Be it your blogs like those I am inspired by on Bloglovin with bloggers truly expressing themselves to the world. Because I have spoken to so many people who are afraid to be themselves, afraid to express themselves, such as those who criticise themselves from their hair, their body, just everything. I want to emphasise that we all deserve happiness and deserve to feel great for who we are, in our own way and in our own time. So express yourself, find out new things bout yourself that allow you to express your personality, such as how I have through blogging for three years which has enabled me to express my interests in fashion, beauty an travel to so many people; that in turn, makes me happy to be me.

Thank you for reading, I hope this was helpful and an insight to others the way I feel we should all be ,

Yours truly,

Caris  😊

Small Ways to Save | Little Tips for Money Saving Moments

Small Ways to Save | Little Tips for Money Saving Moments

From time to time, everyone will want or need to save money at some point in life, and as a young adult (18 is considered an adult in the UK even when I don't feel old ha) money can go fast. I found as I got older and more independent, as I am one who likes to have self Independence, money would go fast on the smallest of things in every day life, especially this year as I have become a lot more independent in small ways. It's a general thing adults experience, such as when a car breaks down, or when the bills are due. And this gets me thinking: I'm glad my parents socialised me to save as much money as possible through every day life; especially when I have to shop for small every day essentials such as shampoo, makeup, you name it.

So I've gathered all the ways in which I save using my methods to save a little more, especially as the seasons effect spending, such as Christmas shopping which can be costly.

Price compare:
Now this may be an obvious one, but it works. Ever purchased something, only to realise the exact same product was so much cheaper in another store you've just waked into? I have and it can be annoying. So look around and find which shop is best for you.
I price compare on beauty products such as shampoos to makeup, and an example is my favourite shampoo, 'Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo, Delicate Blends, Rice Cream and Oat Milk'. In Boots this costs £3.49 on average via their website, but in Wilkinsons, my go-to store for cheaper items at this moment in time, it cost me between £1.00 to £2.00, most likely £1.90 I believe (unfortunately I cannot remember the exact cost or find a receipt for this product). So as we can see, a lot more worth the price, especially when I have been saving up for my holiday.

Buy in bulk:
Sometimes buying in bulk can be more worth it, than buying individual items. An example could be makeup, often most stores will have deals, such as Boots, where they'll have 'buy one get one free' on all makeup brands specified under this offer.
To add, buying in bulk means that, yes you may end up with more you wanted this month, but next month and the month after, you wont have to spend a penny on the same product, therefore saving up on the little expenses and having the money you would have spent on that item to use on something else. I just figure out the cost for one unit of the bulk item, which all sales signs will have on them ie '£0.79 per 100ml' and compare this to the individual item. Often you'll see that the comparison is equivalent to something like £0.70 or £0.39 cheaper, which if times by the number of amount of times you'll buy another of this item, can add up to the next pound. Definitely worth a try.

But remember, some companies will actually try to trick you into believing that their bulk items are better than the same items that are separate, even if the bulk items have just as many items in them as the individual items, so always compare the price to make sure you're paying for what you want.
For example, just because two bigger 800ml bottles of shampoo costs £4.00, doesn't mean that the same individual 250ml bottles should be ignored. I found four bottles of individual 250ml shampoo cost a total of £4.00 for an overall total of 1 litre of shampoo, meaning you get 200ml more for the same price than you would with the bulk offer of  £4.00 for a total of 800ml bottles of shampoo. If I had ignored the individual 250ml bottles, I'd be charged £4.00 for the bulk buy and would have 200ml less, therefore I would have paid for 200ml less of shampoo than amount of one individual bottle, and so technically speaking, I would have been overcharged. To add, as I think of this, 200ml is nearly the amount in one individual bottle, therefore if I had gone for the 800ml bottle, I would be paying for less than I could get. Hope this makes sense, as I'm not maths fan myself, but what I mean is that I got more shampoo for less the cost with individual bottles, so always check those prices first and compare.

Shop in the 'sale':
This may be obvious, but it works. Many of my "best-buys" a.k.a. "Bargains" as I like to call them, were in the sale. A plain, black, cut out back jumpsuit from River Island, for example, was originally £50.00, but I purchased it for £20.00, saving £30.00; my "best-buy" in terms of saving so much money at a shop that can be costly for certain or many items, and also because I just love this jumpsuit :)
If you take me to a shop with a sale, don't think I'll shop in the full price section, as when I see a sale item that's so much cheaper than it's original price, and that's my size, and is just what I've been looking for; I'll grab it up in seconds before you can even see me. I just love sales. I can find great items for such cheap prices :) A denim dungaree pinafore dress, which I've been searching for, ever since they can back into fashion, and one that suits my body shape, appeared before me in New Look a few days ago, so what did I do? I grabbed it, tried it on, and fell in love with it because its A-line shape suited by body shape perfectly and now it's another favourite of mine for only £9.00 instead of £19.99. Plus, I never wear dresses and they don't normally suit me or my body shape, but this dress I just loved and it's the first time since I was about eight years old that I've worn a dress on a normal day with no special occasion and by choice :)

So there are a few of my methods and tips for saving money when required, and advice on how to do this if needed. Hope this was helpful and worth a read :)

About me | Things I Aim To Do In My Life

About Me | Things I Aim To Do In My Life

Everyone has aims in life, were all human. So here's a few of my aims in life for the better that show a little about who I am as an individual.

A quote that means something to me,
'Sparkle' means to achieve and reach high in
life, with every attempt.
1) Write a book or two: I love to write, hence having two blogs and although I struggle to write whilst my life is so hectic, I still love it. I have no idea what I want to write about, although I am a crime-fighting-horror-tastic- murder-mystery genre lover. I love to read and I take English Literature and Language at A-Level because I love to write and read. So who knows....

2) Be an extra in a film one day: I love performing arts, and although I love it, it can be a hard thing to get into, and be successful with. There are multiple zombie films out, always coming back and who knows, a zombie spot may open up one day. Or even a spot as an extra in a music video. Either way, it would be a enjoyable experience. Plus, I love horror films.

3) Be tougher: To be tougher, I mean to not let the littlest of  things get to me. I am one to put myself down about the smallest of things, such as doing something bad in my driving lesson, messing up an essay in college that will gain me great marks or forgetting something important. I just think I'm a idiot or silly or useless,  anything that expresses my annoyance and upset with myself, even if others themselves think there's nothing wrong with these things.

4)Volunteer in something: I love to help people, I gain a happy feeling when I help people, such as when I assist customers at work. Maybe volunteer abroad, or in a historical event or building. Something that would provide great experience in my life :)

5) Don't let anxiety win: I am a very anxious person. I consider myself as very anxious as the smallest of things affect me, even if I don't present it to others. I will admit I am 75% better than ever before, because of going to two colleges within two years where I didn't originally know anyone, travelling on various methods of travel alone and being slowly and gradually more financially independent for myself as I get older, such as buying my own every day items and getting myself places alone; small things that I myself personally built on. But there will always be more to improve on, and I'm ok with that :)

6) Live healthier and so happier than ever before: I am happy and proud of myself to say that I made my diet better than ever before, and even influence people I know to eat healthy too, resulting in them coming up to me and saying " I really love the fruit and fibre cereals, who would have thought? I bet your influencing me to eat this way ha" Turns out, I had spoken of how I had to change my diet for the better so I could live like a normal person and be pain free from something most don't want to talk about because it a sensitive topic, especially in the what I see as the reserved British Society I live in. A healthier diet made me realise I felt more energetic instead of ill, slept better, my skin was healthier looking, and I didn't feel unhappy because of pain my stomach produced from eating an average diet that hardly included any extra and vital fibre and vitamins.

There a few of my life aims, some may be random, some bizarre, some may seem fairly simple, but I am one to aim to make my lifestyle more healthier in order to improve my lifestyle for the better.

Yours truly,
Caris

My Little Pick-Me-Ups | For When I'm Feeling Blue

My Little Pick-Me-Ups | For When I'm Feeling Blue

My Motivational Board x Photgraph taken by me
Caris on my Xperia E
Hello. Today I am posting this to share a little bit about me when I'm feeling off or when it's one of those days. Do you ever do things to distract from the stresses of everyday life? Maybe a hobby, maybe something simple? Here's what I do and it's being shared for any of you who feel like saying "why do I have to have a day like this". Hope it helps x
  1. 1. Junk food night: Now yes I know I have mentioned that I suffer from stomach intolerances when eating too much junk food; but I am speaking about eating them in moderate amounts. There's something rewarding when you bit into your favourite food and hear the satisfying crunch of that delicious Jaffa cake... *come back Caris leave the land of the Jaffa Cakes* Just delishafying! -a bit of a made up word there for you ;)
  2. Watching your favourite programme or movie: At times, it's stressful juggling everything in my daily routine and I just need a break. Everyone needs a break now and then by doing something you love, especially as I watch a series of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as I'm a crime series addict or Downton Abbey because I love period drama and history. These breaks help you get back on track and are good for your mental health in terms of your stress levels. So go ahead, find a moment when you can spare a little time and give your brain a rest from work, school, college or life in general.
  3. Listening to your favourite music: When I'm feeling down and blue, I put my earphones in and turn on my music. Songs that have great beats to them and a variety of different instruments seem to sound so nice, cheering me up and that helps my mood. Some of my favourites are Ink, Yellow and Magic by Coldplay and Cool by Alesso ft Roy English. They just have that effect that makes you want to strut to the beat and sing out loud when walking to work...ok, that's just me.. but anyway you get what I mean :)
  4. Motivational stones.
  5. Find something motivational: We all need something to give us a boost in life. So find something motivational in your life to help when times get tough. I have motivational stones of mine which help motivate me and my motivational board in my room which is a canvas of all the inspirational, motivating quotes you can think of (see the main image above).
  6.  Go on a walk or cycle to somewhere interesting or special to you: Now I know summer is long gone, alas, but that doesn't mean you can't venture around a town, city or a field on a walk to cheer yourself up. I personally go to my favourite  place, Princess Towers with my dogs which you can read here - My Trip to The Princess Towers | Day Out . Time alone can help you think over things that trouble you and keep you calm especially when with the company of a dog, especially if your blessed with a med Spaniel like me (Skye) but even a cycle can help too. Give it a try and admire the carpet of golden leaves covering the ground this season before they're all gone.
There you go, just a few little things I do to help when I'm feeling down, hope this was helpful,
Yours truly,

Simple Revision Tips | Revising for Exams & Coping with Exam Pressure

Simple Revision Tips | Revising for Exams & Coping with Exam Stress

Every one experiences exams and exam pressure, but for those who haven't yet and soon will, it can be hard to know what to do and how to cope when it's so over whelming and new to you. I know this feeling, I've recently finished my GCSE exams this year, so thought I would share some simple tips and ideas on how to cope at this busy time of in your life.

So many subjects, so little time! My revision books for GCSE

When it comes to revision, everyone knows that it's not the best thing and most interesting way to spend your time on; it will be worth it. First things first though, make sure you have all the textbooks, resources and equipment that you need in order to revise fully and properly and be successful in your exams. No one likes to find out in the exam that they studied the wrong topics or sections or haven't got a calculator in the maths calculator exam. Ask your teachers to be sure you have all that you need and know what you need to revise and go out and buy any needed resources or equipment.

Time management is key when revising, create a revision timetable to help you, placing subjects that are vital to achieve a pass in more often, and optional subjects at other times. Ask a parent or friend to help you create a good revision timetable. Start your revision early, don't leave it to the last minute. I started my revision around early February, for my exams in May. Early I know, but I like to be organised and it did help when exams where two weeks away and I had finished my notes for some of my subjects.

One simple tip that I suggest using and trying out, is when revising move yourself away from any distractions. Turn off your laptop or  phone to stop yourself from getting distracted. After all, your friends will most likely be trying to and should be revising so it's less likely that you will get a text or notification on your phone informing you on something. This may sound easy, but I always have my phone on 24/7 and when revising I found it hard to ignore my phone's blinking light saying "pick me up, you've got a message" . I've even been forced to turn it off and put it in another room because I couldn't stop my self from going on it. Sad or what?

Another tip I suggest is find out what method of revision suits you best. Some people prefer to listen to music whilst revising, though I get distracted and bless everyone in the house and around it with my terrible singing. Others prefer to revise in silence like me, as it makes it easier to concentrate and not get distracted. Highlighting key points, facts and information in text books or in your note book can help, as they allow you to pick out the key notes and remember them. Writing down notes from text books whilst revising can be useful, and this is my preferred method of revision.

Revision snacks and drinks to keep you going are a good idea. Whilst revising, it's important to eat the right foods and stay hydrated so that you can concentrate and stay focused for longer; therefore taking in important information that's vital for your exams. These snacks should be fairly healthy such as nuts and fruit, but you can treat yourself occasionally, like eating something sweet (Skittles the sweets are my favourite and you will always catch me eating them whilst revising) Drinks such as water to energy drinks are fine, as long as you don't drink too many high in sugar drinks, as these can damage your teeth and are generally extremely unhealthy. Have them as a reward every now and then. Don't go over board, have a variety of drinks, preferably hydrating ones such as water or high juice (if you don't like water alone like me) that requires water to be added.

Last but not least, don't become a revision zombie. Go out with friends or simply your family for a few hours every so often. This is because you can't spend weeks and months never leaving the house, as you will soon get bored and this will distract you from revising and make it harder to revise. At the same time, don't spend every free day from school going out with friends especially if you're schools allowing study leave. In my case, I had to come into school to attend revision sessions until the next school term started where I would then be finishing off my exams.

A key piece of advice, stay positive. I struggled with maths in school and would always think negatively of myself, and this would show in my performance. Be positive say to yourself " You can do this, you've worked hard and deserve the grade you want. You can do this" it does help, especially in those exams that just seem so hard and impossible. I hope that these tips will help you as they've helped me and I wish you the best of luck for what you are revising. Good luck!

Yours truly,
Caris
