My trip to The Princess Towers | Day Out

My trip to The Princess Towers | Day Out

Hello. Summer goes by so quickly, so I thought to myself, why not do something to really remember. Something I will enjoy. So I went on a long summer walk to one of my favourite places. I took my dogs and set off. I had decided to go to a place where I have many childhood memories; the Towers aka "Princess Towers" as I liked to call it when I was younger. Here's a run through of how enjoyable a summer walk can be, something I have enjoyed as part of my summer holiday.

Setting off with two young dogs can be a challenge. They pull, they leg it when they see another dog! But what I love about my two adult, yet funny dogs is that they enjoy long walks.

Quest and Skye are fairly young. Quest is just four and Skye is just one. They do training and all sorts of things with one of my parents, as they are their dogs. This training can make them very obedient, great for taking a picture of them :) Walking along a field with them on the lead can be, shall I say, a work out. Even working dogs will pull and you have to really hold your grip haha. Quest is a Border Collie and Skye is a Spaniel so for working breeds, you can imagine they can be very strong.

Once we had walked across the fields, where I had watched Skye leap over the golden wheat fields, holding a massive grin across her face, we had got to the track leading to the Towers. The view was stunning. All these years ago I came here with my old dogs who have sadly passed away now and who I hold in my heart still today. I had forgotten how amazing it was there. The trees were green and vibrant, as if they had been freshly painted. The Sky looked clear, as though it was a picture in a gallery, perfect. The sound of the Grass Hoppers was like a symphony, with nothing else interrupting their song, even when one decided to hop onto my leg. The air was fresh and clear and the wind blew in my face, sending my hair flying back behind me. All my memories from the past of this place came flooding back. Memories deep within my head started to emerge, causing a smile to spread across my face as I felt a moment of delight, comfort, happiness and amazement. "Wow this is beautiful" I muttered to myself as I gawped at the view. I knew for a fact that one thing was clear. I had missed this place.

Turning the corner with me following, the dogs hurried off towards the hill. They knew that the stream was near. As they vanished around the corner, I walked down the sloping dirt path and turned my head in to the direction of a shining object within the distance. I could see a Farm over the hill in front of me. The metallic reflection of the iron roofing on a barn had caught my eye, as it shone in the sunshine looking brand new. By the time I had turned the corner which Skye and Quest had disappeared around, the image I saw made me smile. The two of them were over joyed. They were scurrying down the hill towards the stream and bridge at the bottom. To the best part of the walk and the final destination of this amazing route. Skye was bustling up and down the hill, turning around and heading towards me, tail wagging, ears flying and a grin present upon her face, before retreating back towards the stream. Quest by her side, his tail swaying left and right accompanied by a gentle walk. Typical laid back Quest.
The Stream and the Bridge.

Before I could stop her, Skye plunged herself into the stream. The stream had a clearing with rocks and was shallow, just enough for Quest the go into and fetch a stick before retrieving it back to me, a impatient playful look on his face. Approached by Skye soon after, I was clear that they wanted to play fetch. So we did and I could tell, they loved it here just like I do.

I enjoyed this walk and I know that my dogs did too. I believe that summer walks are the best thing when its nice and hot and you're itching to get outside. Take a bike like I have, a friend or your dogs like I did, and enjoy the lovely summer breeze and heat.

I told my friend, Lady Fascination, about this place and she wanted to come with me to see it. The images were stunning. So share a interesting walk with someone. Get out there and catch the sun on a summer walk to
remember. :) Go alone or with another, but enjoy the summer. Create memories and have a good time. Nature is beautiful and accompanied by the summer warmth, they make a perfect combination to enjoy.

A Must Make Dessert | Delicious Fruit Crumble

A Must Make Dessert | Delicious Fruit Crumble
Another recipe for you to try is my Delicious Fruit Crumble recipe. This recipe is perfect to make for big meals and serves as many people as it can. It is especially good to serve in the colder months because this is a warm dessert and can be served with Custard, Double or Whipped cream. However you can serev this dessert whenever you want. It's your choice. I made this recipe in school and I have modified it to serve my own liking.
Just follow these steps and you will have the perfect dessert; the Delicious Fruit Crumble. This recipe can be modified to contain different ingredients such as the fruits included in it, if that suits you better or is all you currently have to add to the crumble.
Delicious Fruit Crumble
Ingredients and Equipment:
  • 450g of fruit-Cooking Apples & Sultanas/ Cooking Apples/ Cooking Apples & Pears/ Rhubarb/ Mixed Berries (i.e. Strawberries, Blackberries, Blueberries) etc. (you can opt for many varieties of fruits as you like)
  • 175g Plain Flour
  • 75g Margarine/ Butter
  • 125g Caster Sugar
  • Large Oven-Proof Cooking dish- Glass/ China (must be oven-proof)
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Chopping board
  • Knife
  • Peeler
 Method:
  1. Pre-heat oven to 190 Degrees Celsius or gas mark 5.
  2. To make the crumble, place Margarine/Butter into mixing bowl and add the flour. Rub the flour and margarine/butter between fingertips until the ingredients come together to resemble breadcrumbs (small lumps). If these lumps are very large, shake the bowl back and fourth on the surface to bring all the heavy lumps to the surface and crumble them until they are small. Add half the sugar and stir gently with wooden spoon so as to not break up the lumps. Be sure sugar is mixed in and not gathered on the surface to ensure all the mixture is correctly flavoured.
  3. Wash fruit (if needed) and peel Fruit and slice. If the Fruit is large slice into small squares about a thumbs width wide. If the Fruit is unevenly cut, the fruit will not cook evenly leaving some pieces raw and other extremely soft.
  4. Once fruit is chopped, place evenly into baking dish being sure that all Fruit is even and not clustered. Take the remaining Sugar and sprinkle over the Fruit.
  5. Sprinkle the crumble over the fruit in the dish until all fruit is covered. Place into oven for 35-40 minutes until the crumble looked golden brown. Be sure not to over cook the crumble as the sugar inside the crumble mixture will caramelise and burn, which is especially hard to correct as the sugar is melted and mixed into the crumble. Using oven gloves, remove cooked crumble and serve.
  6. If you would like to add custard make up the custard whilst the crumble is cooking.
  7. Once crumble is served you can add the topping and enjoy your Delicious Fruit Crumble.
A simple, detailed recipe for you to use. Fruit crumble is a perfect family or group dessert due to its large serving numbers and how filling it can be. If you would like to go for a healthier alternative for a topping that's is sugar free, why not try a good quality brand of Natural Yogurt added on top.
Enjoy the recipe for now :) More recipes will be on the way and if there are any requests for recipes, that can be solved easily :) You can check out my other recipes on the main page like my previously posted Rock Buns recipe- A Must Know Recipe You'll Love: Rock Buns .
Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoyed this recipe and found it useful!

A Must Know Recipe You'll Love | Rock Buns

A Must Know Recipe You'll Love | Rock Buns

Hello! It has been some time since I have posted here however looks like I am again :) Life can be hectic can't it? I know that's true for me, especially with the way my education at college had been this past year just hectic!

That is why I am posting this lovely recipe of mine acquired from the years of GCSE Food Technology I participated in in Secondary School. In my previous post I mentioned which can be seen here :Did I Ever Tell You I Took Food Technology? No? that I would be posting these recipes up for you which are modified by me to the way I like to cook them; now being shared with you!
Let's get started!
Rock Buns
(Serves 8)
Ingredients and equipment:
  • 200g Self-Raising Flour
  • Pinch of salt (optional)
  • 100g Caster Sugar
  • 50g Currants/ Raisins/ Mixed fruit/ Chocolate chips (anything you want basically :) )
  • 1 Medium Egg
  • 1/4 Medium Cup of Milk
  • 50g Margarine/ Butter
  • Baking Paper
  • Scissors
  • Large Mixing Bowl and Mixing Spoon
  • Jug and Sieve
  • Baking Tray
Method:
Delicious Rock Buns
 -(http://www.goodtoknow.co.uk/recipes/pictures/28038/what
-to-bake-for-a-school-fete/16)
  1. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius or Gas mark 7. Cut baking paper to fit baking try and  line with baking paper. If you want take a small amount of cooking oil and place to surface of the baking try to allow the baking paper to stick in place.
  2. Sieve flour and salt into mixing bowl and rub Margarine/Butter into the flour using your fingertips until the mixture resembles bread crumbs (small lumps). If these lumps are very large, shake the bowl back and fourth on the surface to bring all the heavy lumps to the surface and crumble them until they are small.
  3. Once crumbles and mixed, gentle but thoroughly stir in sugar and currants using mixing spoon. Be sure all currants and sugar are thoroughly mixed in to ensure each Rock Bun has the correct amount of currants and flavour when cooked.
  4. Beat the egg in the jug using a folk. When the egg is correctly beaten, it will have many bubbles on the surface Once beaten, add the egg to the mixture in the mixing bowl and mix thoroughly until the mixture resembles a thick paste. If mixture becomes too thick and cannot be moved, add milk a little at a time, stirring it in between intervals.
  5. Using a table spoon, scoop up a heaped spoonful of the mixture and place each spoonful onto baking tray. Be sure to leave a thumb sized space between each bun. Even out the heaps until all the mixture is used up. Place into oven at 220 degrees/gas mark 7 and cook for 15 minutes until golden brown. Once you think the Rock buns are cooked, remove from oven and test the centre to see if they're cooked using a knife. Gently and slowly push the knife through the bun, remove and if the knife is clean with no mixture on it  your Rock buns are cooked and ready to eat!
  6. Remove buns from tray and leave to cool. Once cool enjoy! If you like, add a sprinkle of caster sugar to the tops of the buns for extra flavour.
There you have it, a simple, detailed Rock Bun recipe. More recipes will be posted up soon but for now thank you for visiting and enjoy creating these delicious buns! Comments and images about the result of this recipe would be appreciated below so I can see how everyone is doing with the recipe :)

Caris

A Few of My Favorites | Nail Art Designs and Nail Polishes to Use

A Few of My Favourite Nail Art Designs and Nail Polishes to Use

Hi!!! Hope you are well :) Soo, I here I am, typing this up at the moment trying to decipher which of my own nail designs I should share for all to try out of the many I have done. Here I am going to share with you just a few of my favorite nails designs that I once created, and recreated again and again including which nail polishes I used and me modelling the designs after I created them.  Hope you like them :)

Nail polishes and bits-and-bobs are great. You get to decorate your body, like you do with your face makeup, only this is more, permanent you could say and yikes I would NOT want to get nail polish on my face! You create a piece of art work on your nails and there are hundreds, in fact thousands, no millions of different nails designs you could do and heck you get to do whatever you want, whatever you feel like doing. If you want to do hearts on each nail you can do exactly that or if you want to do different emojis on each of your ten nails like I have before, which btw looks so cute, you can do that! Here are just a few of my favourite nail art designs that I did on my nails and the images of these designs after I had completed them on my hand :)

Polka-Dot Nails:

Here are my pink and white polka dot nails
which are great for a everyday look
especially in warmer weather

This is one of my favourite nail designs and you can use what ever colours look best together to do it. (Apologies for the junk behind my hand, however at the time I never knew I would be using this picture ;) ) All you need is a nail polish for the base, here it was the hot pink and a nail at pen for the polka dots, which in this case was a light silver nail pen as part of a nail set that I purchased cheap years ago. This design is simple and easy to do, however patience is a must as the dots do take their time to dry and using a glossy nail polish will make the nails look even brighter. Here's how to do this design:

  1. Apply to base colour to your nails, be sure to spread evenly across the nail, ensuring no lumps are present and that the nail polish doesn't gather.  If using a fairly thin nail polish, apply more coats once the first coat is dried to completely cover the nail.
  2. After the base colour has dried properly, start placing the polka dots in small amounts evenly spaced across the nail, as you can see in the image above. Try not to apply too much polish for each polka dot, as this will mean it'll take longer to dry. Ensure that each polka dot has enough spacing between them, as they can run into each other and this will spoil the look.
  3. Once all nails are dry, including the polka dots, cover nails with a coat of clear nail polish to give the nails a shine and make the polish last for longer.

Crackle effect:
Crackle Nails
This look is easy to do and many do this design with so many variations, all with the use of a normal nail polish and crackle effect nail polish. This is one of my favorite designs just because it looks so cool and its simple to do. All you need is your favourite nail polish in your chosen colour for the base nail polish and a crack effect nail polish to place on top, which can be purchased in many shops or magazines, mine of which was in white and from a AVON catalog and I love it. Plus I love watching the crackle nail polish separate as it reacts with the nail polish underneath. Here's how to do this design:
  1. Start with applying your base nail polish evenly to each nail, allowing to dry before another coat if needed.
  2. Apply crackle polish to nails and watch as the polish separate when it comes in contact with the base nail polish. Don't worry about clumping the crackle polish, this design is meant to look messy so it wont matter.
The great thing about this design is if the polish chips, just apply to crackle again and don't worry about it looking messy. Also, if your crackle nail polish is a matte one, then there's no need to apply clear nail polish as that would ruin the matte effect.

3D Glitter Nails:

This nail design is a type of 3D nail art and is great for parties, nights out or Christmas. I recently did it on my nails i this style for a New Years Party using a set that was given to me for my Birthday a few years ago. The set consists of white nail polish for the base and white glitter to cover the nails that is placed into a plastic tray that also comes with the pack that you dip your nail into while the polish is still damp. Be sure to leave plenty of time to compete this design if you choose to do it, taken me at least an hour before! Here's how to do this design:
Glitter nails (yep, I did send this
 to a friend because its
a great design to do)
  1. Apply base polish to each nail, be sure to start with just one hand so that the base polish doesn't dry, as this is meant to be wt to make the glitter stick to it. Be sure not to apply too much polish as this could increase the drying time.
  2. Dip each nail into the glitter or apply glitter to nail-depending on how you can d this such as what type of 3D Nail Art Set you have. By dipping the wet nail into the glitter, this allows more coverage making the nails look even better and takes less time to cover the nail with the glitter. Remove any excess glitter by tapping your fingers with the glitter-covered-nails which will shake off any excess glitter.
  3. Once all nails have been covered with glitter and have dried, apply a coat of clear nail polish to cover the glitter and stop the rough edges of the glitter from catching onto things such as fabrics and chipping off, making the design last longer. This will also make the nails look even prettier.
My design reminds me of the snow and so I did this design for a New Years Party as it's so pretty and creative.

So there you go, hope you liked these designs, they are just some of my favoutire designs that I did and then took a picture of, so yes these are my own pictures  :)

Hope you liked these and enjoyed my bad photography of my hand styling the designs on my nails. Hope to post more nail designs soon! :) Thanks!

Yours truly,
Caris

Healthy Nails | My Own Small Things I Do to Keep Nails Healthier when Painting Them...

Healthy Nails | My Own Small Things I Do to Keep Nails Healthier when Painting Them

Heeeyyyy! (I am typing this while listening to 1975 my fav, so sorry if I end up typing something odd or lyrics to their songs haha) apologies I haven't posted in kinda a long time, I have just been struggling with college work and had a few health issues recently and for some time(nothing major major serious dw) that made me feel MEH! Any ways...today I am going to share with you just a few small things that I do to keep my nails healthy when painting them. Hope you find this useful and get what I am saying :) Please note that I am not an expert I am just sharing my thoughts and opinions in this post. In the case of this post, I am NOT a Doctor, so if you have nails concerns, you need to take to your doctor about it, I am just here to write about small things to help nails when using nail polish, Thank you.

Diagram of a nail- http://fungusfacts.com/fingernail-fungus/
I used to always paint my nails when my previous school suddenly said that we were allowed to do it, and this resulted in me experimenting in different nail polish colours, styles and designs but also me over doing the amount of times that I put on nail polish and damaged my nails considerately. I have what you would call rectangular nails and they grow fairly quickly. Because of this, my nails tend to get caught on things easily but this is when they got to a fairly long length. The reason why I am telling about this is because when I started to use nail polish more and more and things like 3D nails art such as glitter which you dip your nail into and it comes out all glittery and cool looking, it damaged my nails. They began to chip when the Distal Edge "free edge"(white bit of the nail at the tip of your nail) had barely even grown, like a millimetre. Not good. My mum said it was my diet but I am a calcium freak, I love cheese and yogurt, cream and milk (especially home made milk shakes umm) and then it got me thinking, maybe the nail polish and artificial nails are stripping the nails of their nutrients that protects them and makes them look shiny. When you remove that nail polish after five says and your nails look dull and hardly shiny, that proves what I was thinking, I may not have my guess 100% correct but it makes sense to me. After all shiny nails are healthy nails. However, if you are concerned about your nails and they are looking odd, have changed structure or you're generally concerned, best to visits a Doctor, as they will be able to help you with their doctory knowledge.

So numero uno, Let them breath! Your nails need to breath, otherwise they will turn yellow or orange (no joke this happened to two of my friends who always wore nails polish all the time, then covered it up with more polish). It is a known fact that frequent application of nail polish can turn you nails yellow or light orange colour due to lack of oxygen to your nails, so LET EM' BREATH!!!

Numero dos:Don't hang on to the wreckage of the polish. Basically, dish the chipped polish or broken artificial nails, leaving it on increases the amount of time your smothering your nails and this isn't healthy nor good in terms of how it looks. After you have removed the polish or fake nail? Leave your nails  and don't re-paint them or reapply fake nails.

Tres: Visit a nail spa or manicure specialists! Visit these people, and I am positive many of them can offer nail treatments such as treatments or coatings that are put on the nail that can provide nutrients and vitamins to your nails, like a hair dresser would deep treat damaged hair. I'm not really sure what they can offer as I don't work or have knowledge in that area, so I cannot really say however I am sure like any business when a customer or member of the public esquires about something, they would tell you and give you a run through of what they can do and how it's helpful, after all they want to keep business and profits up (showing off my Business studies knowledge there ;) )

Hope you found this helpful, it's not much but hey who would be able to take in a whole essay on nails and what affects them? Try my Aquatics work on the freshwater Angel Fish (they are cute fish though, just saying spent a week on the work after all haha) and it's hard enough with sixteen pages and  a reference and bibliography page to go with it, followed by a 'Setting Up an Aquarium' , ugh doing a Level 3 Animal Management Diploma (A Level equivalent for anyone wondering) at college =  effort! Hope you liked this piece, and now I am off to print the rest of my Aquatics, send off my Business and then start my Livestock :I ugh hahah.

Thank you for reading,

Yours truly,
Caris

HAppy HaLLOween!

HAppy HaLLOween!

I am a  voodoo doll by the way (if you
were wondering)
Heeeyyy!! Happy Halloween people! How is Halloween doing for you, going to Halloween parties?, rotting your teeth away with sweets from trick or treating? or just sat watching a spooky movie? Apologies for anyone who has already had Halloween (at least I think that happens in some countries...) Anyway, basically I have decided to put up a Halloween post about linked to the celebration of Halloween, even though me and my family don't actually celebrate it much. But what I really wanted to do was to just put out a small message to all you reading this and wish you all a Happy Halloween (although it's already seven twenty nine here in the UK...opps haha) This is a short post and I am just saying have fun on Halloween and if you don't celebrate it then that's totally fine but for those of you who do and even those of you who love Halloween, have a happy Halloween (we use this time of year to get lots of cheap sweets and cakes sold for Halloween mawhahah! ;) )
My Halloween make-up, I tried ok haha

I decided to actually do my make-up for Halloween, despite the fact that I am just stuck indoors on my laptop ha. My friend did her make-up and I have to say Georgie, it was pretty awesome and cool and that inspired me to actually 'decorate' my face for Halloween. Maybe we should all try something different, sure covering your face in black extreme make-up isn't the only different thing you can do (I wanted to do it because I have never dressed up for Halloween) but it's just an example :) Sorry this isn't my normal post about how I fail at life (in a amusing way) or what I have been up to but I just wanted to say have a good time everyone, what ever you're doing :) Oh by the way, I will be posting something up very soon so watch out :)

Byyyeeee! (don't look under the bed, the bed will eat you ;) )

Hobbies | Do What Makes You Happy

Hobbies | Do What Makes You Happy

I'm feeling in the mood for a bit of a thoughtful and reflective moment and feel like sharing my thoughts and opinions with you and a bit more about me; so here goes. What makes me happy, even for just an hour or two minutes? My hobby. Dance: Ballet and Tap. Why does it make me happy? Because I love dance. There's nothing more satisfying when you master a new hard step or routine. When you are successful and in my case, when you finally get that one hard routine in Tap that requires so much co-ordination. The step that involves soo many shuffle ball changes heel clicks across the room and pick-ups  followed by yet more shuffles where you have to move backwards by 'hopping' and it is just so fast, it's mind boggling! But I still love it because after all that practice and frustration it has finally payed off.
Yes I know the ribbons supposed to be
tucked in but at the time I hadn't cut them
(p.s these shoes were in the process of being
broken in which is why the shoes isn't 'moulded'
to my foot)

Same goes for Ballet, my favourite out of the two styles of dancing that I do. I just love that feeling when you realise you are finally able to do four pirouettes and land perfectly, on pointe when you just started and worked so hard building up the strength in your feet and ankles to do that one hard step or move. Again, all that hard work has finally payed off. This is why dance makes me happy and why I love it. It made me so happy when I achieved those hard routines and steps listed above, as I had to spend quite some time building up the strength in my feet and ankles and just in general, in order for me to finally take on the steps that for someone who had just started pointe work, were hard. It was hard to learn to get used to having to balance, be aware of your feet and surroundings and make the steps run smoothly and look effortless, all whilst on your toes. But that's what this field of dance is about and it's what I enjoy doing. It's this feeling of achievement that just makes dance so worth while for me, the feeling of success as you have understood and mastered that one step, routine or exercise and the feeling of happiness as you have achieved a goal and can continue to do what you love to do; which in my case is my hobby.

My first pointe shoes, they look
soo new shiny! :0 Grisko Triumphs
I have been dancing for about eight coming up to nine years and started quite late compared to those in my class who are all two years and more younger than me. I have never seen myself actually dancing so I have no idea if I am 'great' at it but it's my hobby and I love it and that's that. You should never let anything or anyone stop you from doing something that you love to do (as long as it is a positive thing and not negative in any way), even if you are not the best or need just a bit more practise etc.

I am not a professional either as it is just a hobby of mine, but one that I love to do and take part in and get so happy about when I have success involving dance. For example, in Ballet I just managed to do fouettes  one day when I was originally practising my spotting* . I managed to do four before I stopped and realise "Ahhh you just did four fouettes! Sure they were a bit untidy but hey there's always time to practise but still you did it and you find that they are quite hard to do whilst balancing and spinning around" (for those of you who don't do dance and have no idea as to what I am talking about, there's definitions at the bottom of the post :/ )

One of the moments in my life that I feel most happy is when I walk into the dance studio for my dance lesson after a long day spent at school (soon to be college) It gives me a chance to forget about everything else for an hour and enjoy myself. You should do what makes you happy (as long as it's not bad or destructive) You only have one life to live, so you should live it well and happy. Don't let anyone tell you you can't do something because " Your not good enough" , "You lack the skill to do it" or simply because "You don't follow the rhythm" etc.

This is what I decided to talk about, to say to people do what makes you happy as I do dance which makes me happy. Only you know what makes you happy so go ahead and use that knowledge. Thank you, byyeee!  :)

(some definitions for dance names or terms that I have mentioned above and you may not have understood)
*Pointe shoes- also known as toe shoes, dancers doing advanced Ballet dance wearing these shoes that allow then to dance on the toes.
*Pirouette- a full turn of the body on the point of the toe or ball of the foot.
*Fouette/s- a quick whipping movement of the raised leg in Ballet usually accompanying a pirouette.
*Spotting- a technique used by dancers during the execution of various dance turns, aiming to attain constant orientation of the dancers head and eyes to the extent possible in order to enhance the dancers control and prevent dizziness.
*Shuffle/s-combined two brushes of the foot forward and backwards on the floor.
*Pick up/s-standing on the ball of the foot, jump up, hitting the ground with the ball of the foot then with the heel.
*Ball change/s- two steps on alternating feet. The first step does not get alternating weight.
*Heel clicks-a step that consists of hitting the heels of the dancers shoes together whilst moving across the room. For example, step jump and click the heels together as the dancer jumps.
*Shuffle-ball-change- a shuffle followed by a ball change.
